Smart diodes are our favorite option for getting brake and turn signals on your towed car. They are really well-made and reliable, plus pretty easy to install. This kit is for variable voltage/multiplex LED tail lights.

Notes:
"Don't be intimidated by diodes: if you can strip and crimp wire, this installation will be no problem."
A variable voltage tail light (also known as multiplex) uses the same wire for both the brake light and the tail light, sending a 12-volt signal to the brake light and a 9-volt signal to the tail light. This works fine when you're driving, but when you are flat towing, the RV will send a 12-volt signal to both the brake light and tail light, making them the same level of brightness and impossible to distinguish from each other. The drivers behind you won't be able to tell the difference between your tail lights and your brake lights, which is a huge safety issue.
These smart diodes solve that problem by simply converting the signal from the RV to the lower voltage needed for your car's tail lights. They install permanently, but don't worry; everything will work as normal when you're not flat towing.
This kit is designed to work with LED lights only, so if you have incandescent variable voltage lights, you'll need kit RO94FR (sold separately) instead.
If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely.
A combined lighting system, or 2-wire system, uses the same light bulb to signal both braking and turning. (In other words, the car signals a turn by flashing the brake light.)
A separate lighting system, or 3-wire system, has the brake signal and the turn signal light up independently of each other. Typically, the turn signal is amber.
If your motorhome has a separate lighting system, add a tail light wiring converter (RM-732 - sold separately) to keep your setup functioning properly.
To complete your flat tow setup, you will need either a 4-way or 6-way round electrical connector on the front of your vehicle and a power cable to plug into the RV. Pick up a Roadmaster kit (RM-164-7 or RM-146-7 - sold separately) if you're still missing these important components.

After looking at the layout of a Chevy Equinox, you really would only need maybe a couple of feet of loom, Most of the wiring should be tucked up against the vehicle. As for the blinker lights, I need to know what model your Equinox is, in order for me to better assist you.
It works as advertised. Installation not too hard, be patient, read the directions multiple time, you are dealing with very small wires, make good connections.
Can't really rate any of items; since they haven't been installed yet; but so far, the customer service has been fantastic! Besides having to cough up the $$$ they make the whole process painless.
Great service and fast shipping.

The product is working great. I have had no problems with it so far. I think it is a great product and I installed it myself.
We were at a stand still. Wiring the lights from my motorhome to my ford pickup. Sheryl saved the day, without hesitation, she described just what we needed.
Always turn to etrailer for hitch, electrical and all towin needs. Never let me down.
This system works great. Installed on a 2023 Equinox LT (AWD). It was a little challenging running the wiring from the engine compartment to the taillights of the car, but not overly complex. The etrailer video is very helpful.
Blue Ox is an excellent flat-towing product; simple design, easily installed, and totally reliable!
I did experience difficulty with electrical connection to tail lights of toad from RV following installation, though the toad tail lights did work correctly in reference to signals sent within the toad. This was likely not do to issues with the purchased Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit. Installation was not difficult but was quite time consuming and a bit challenging due to low vehicle ground clearance. I would recommend the use of a vehicle lift during installation if possible.
Easy to pull one hook up.
I got this kit but ended up not needing the diodes. But it seems like they would be easy to install if needed and all the tabs are labeled for what wire goes where.
Received the led tail light kit in record speed. This kit was a replacement for the one I ordered by mistake. etrailer was very helpful with this return and replacement.
I have used Etrailer several times in the past few years and each time I purchase items from them they are just as I expected, good quality products at a reasonable price, not to mention the informative installation videos they provide.
Thanks Etrailer.....

I have to say after 1 year and 6,000 plus miles I have no problem or break down. I have all Roadmaster parts, tow bar, tow plate and the wiring kit.
Great products I would recommend etrailer for their service and products plus help with all your needs even after the sale
Thank you

29,000 miles and still good, tow bar showing some signs of wear Alaska is hard on everything!!
These lights work perfectly on our towed vehicle. Another item I didn’t know I needed until I did. The sales rep did. Great job explaining everything I needed to get our towed vehicle ready to be flat towed. Shipped in a very timely manner and the price was fair.

Works great! Really like not having to put external lights on our towed vehicle.
Kit had everything to install it with. The tail lights, brake lights, turn signals all work In conjunction with the RV however the cars lights are dim and barely visible during the day. Fortunately the RV lights are still mostly visible. The other part is the white wire, you'll need to separate that from the others, by doing this it can compromise the protective coating.

Hey Jeff, check your ground connections. Make sure they're connected to clean, bare metal. Sand the area around the ground connection down to bare metal. Install a star washer between the ring terminal and the vehicle frame. Once you have it installed, shoot a coat of Rust Oleum on it to protect the connection from corrosion.
